Don't get me wrong there's bucket loads of energy, I'm talking technicalities we've got championship quality defenders who are comfortable with playing out from the back constructively and with control. What do we do? Evans tells Roos, every kick down the left flank where we don't win it, what else does he say, diagonal balls into the corners, not winning them but Frecks and Ledesma try to pick up the second balls and get the ball in the box. Any championship manager and players would see that after 10 minutes and adapt easily and quickly accordingly, then we have no plan B. This is 1 dimensional thinking not fit for this league. While I applaud the bravery of team selection, the way its carried out I find naïve, and shows we've learned nothing. Look at how MK and Preston quite comfortably move the ball in triangles waiting to spring, and all the other clubs I've seen on TV thus far play that way, why don't we? - We have the players to cause problems but when told to play a certain way with no license of freedom (and players poo scared to step a foot wrong or out of line from Raynors note pad), we're destined for one thing
I do agree with the comparison but over the course of the last 3 seasons I cant argue with the end result.
Who knows, perhaps MK dons will go down and we will stay up. I know its not pretty however.
The other thing that confuses me is under Evans we have played some outstanding attacking football with triangles, control, width and penetration. In the 10 minute spell we had against MK, we played many lovely balls through and behind their line, while MK had nothing like that at any part of the game. Similarly last year we had a few spells of doing the same. It cant all be down to set-up because these spells take place within the heat of the game.
