Andy, I was relaxing listening to my favourite French music radio channel and a little number came on by the French Canadian smoocher Roch Voisine called Helene. Spooky or what? Some of the lyrics could have dripped from your own magical pen:
"Helene, things you do
Make me crazy 'bout you,
Helene, when you say goodbye
It always makes me cry."
Sheer poetry. Did the song inspire your magnum opus?
It was Actress Ellen Barkin who played a character called Helen Cruger in the film Sea of Love (1989)
I was hooked by her smouldering performance in that film. I would say a very memorable film.
First few lyrics of Sea of Love.
Do you remember when we met? That's the day I knew you were my pet I wanna tell you how much I love you
Come with me, my love, to the sea The sea of love I wanna tell you just how much I love you Come with me to the sea of love
Sung by Robert Plant as opposed to Del Shannon et al.
Wow, yes, a great movie and EB was hotttttttttttttttttttt. Love the song but I only have the DS version. I'm a big fan of 50s and early 60s American pop.
