Kempo and MM

Now don't get me wrong as this is no dig at our resident MD.  But I am confused.  Why does K repeatedly go on MM and suggest people come to Banter but then like today he puts up a number of interesting threads on MM (the content of which btw I largely agree with) and posts nothing on here?  It's a free country but a bloody odd way to promote this site.

Appears that my efforts promoting the site is helping boosting the numbers.

I post on both sites but would prefer to post on here but the audience on here is numerically limited.

I hope this helps ridgeway( not your real name) and thank you very much for your concern.

Good afternoon, Kempo ( Not your real name I know)

Your previous post implies that you prefer to play to a wider audience.   (MM is not Wembley Arena)

Andy

( Not my real name you know)

PS     It is true that you have been singing the praises of Millers Banter ( A real football supporter's site).

Most commendable.

Thank you for explaining the implication of my post Andy....I did not realise that a 'wider audience' was synonymous with 'Wembley Arena'

I always thought it just meant more people but I sincerely thank you for your corrective intervention.

Your much deserved commendation is also very much appreciated.

I actually thought that your real name was Andrew Monium but was aware that Ridgeway's real name was wendun of Brunanburh fame.

It's remarkable that such a small message board has such a collection of talent.

I have read your seance stories with some interest but must admit that the last one has left me totally perplexed.

Thank you for attempting to interpret my comparison of MM and a much larger auditorium.  The latter could have been any

other large arena you care to mention.

I have noticed that you are very shrewd. You have worked out that my real name is Andrew.

As for the character 'wendun'. He seems to have a wealth of knowledge. Much like yourself.

The commendation. Think nothing of it.  I have observed your truly great contributions to the footy mad community.

The reference to the 'small message board'.  Which board is that? You post on more than one.

Thank you for offering a limited critique of my séance stories.

It has been noted that you actually read  them and are 'totally perplexed' by the last instalment.

Was it the plot?  I didn't intend for any reader to lose the plot.

Was it the font size? Was the font size too small?

I remain on  Millers Banter

Yours in waiting

Andy Monium

:) I quite like Kempo, on MM he can be a wind up merchant but then you probably have too look at the long history he has with some of the other posters. He is always a gentleman on this board. Some of the abuse he suffers on MM is way out of line and it seems as soon as he posts people are just waiting to pounce. Though I doesnt really matter I do believe he is a physician as I am in the health industry myself and he seems pretty knowledgable.

I have never doubted K was a doctor and indeed have met a number of his patients at the judo club including the feared Wayne Ritson, hard man of the old Canklow Kid gang.  I merely wondered why he didn't put the excellent Eric Black post on here as well as MM as I refuse to post on that site.  As for Andy's seance epic I love it.

To clarify, I also like Andy's seances but I just could not understand the last one and it seems to have just ended in cyberspace.

Thank you for that supportive post sickly.

The reason that I post more respectfully on here is because the environment allows me to.

I don't get abused and attacked as soon as I post.

A bit of banter is needed on this site, in my view and I certainly don't mind posters having a bit of a dig as Ridgeway is doing and maybe Andy, it adds to the site.

Andy, don't take Kempo's ramble about wendun at face value.  K is a good bloke but his memory isn't what it was.  He was once sure I was a Nigerian lady with whom he long ago had a tryst in an OAP's garden in East Dene.hmm

Hi, sickly I am aware of Kempo's history on MM. He is obviously a physician. I'm sure that he has also made lots of worthwhile

contributions to many a community in the real world.

Respect.

Kempo is a very learned person. It's a pity that some posters on MM don't see it that way.

I know one of his old lecturers who reckons he was one of the brightest graduates ever to study at the prestigious University of Wikipedia.bleh

Actually I don't use Wiki very much as its been shown to have many innacuracies on medical matters so extrapolating from this, I assume it's inaccurate on other subjects.

I found it an interesting feature of MM that certain posters who I found quite knowledgeable were accused of using Wiki by people who I considered to be not so knowledgeable.

Researching subjects and then giving an informed opinion is a good trait in my view but I'm a bit unsure about Wiki.

One funny experience with Wiki is the one and only time that I tried to edit something, a message came up saying that this user has been banned from editing!!........an experience that I was quite familiar with from another site!

I find Wiki a useful source but one which as you say has to be used with caution.  You make a valid point about knowledge of subjects: I have given up debating anything serious on forums and now restrict myself to submitting peer reviewed articles to academic journals.

I find it interesting to debate with 'Rotherham Fans' as some surprising and knowledgeable personalities turn up.

Unfortunately on MM 'debating' was difficult because the spoilers came out to play their game of abuse.

I can see why you would find it difficult to debate topics that you were sending for peer review but I am sure that you would be able to discuss historical battles more superficially or maybe choose lighter topics such as 'The ups and downs of running a guest house'

I'm afraid not.  MM is all too typical of what passes for debate.  I blame the Ancient Greeks.  They introduced the idea of progress through debate; the idea was not to be "right" but to present a case in the hope that through critical examination they might advance towards the truth of the matter.  Now it is all about point scoring and maintaining a position come what may as if one's manhood depended on it.  I don't endear myself to forum debaters by stating; " I don't give a flying **** for your opinion or even my opinion but am only interested in your evidence."
