Evans said that one of the problems with last years recruitment was that we were in the play offs and this gave everyone a few weeks start over us. Good point. Then I read Paul douglas saying at the moment it's a sellers market and we are going to put one or two offers out but will be waiting until possibly pre season training when players will be worried about getting a team and be at a more reasonable price. So this season we are going to be 6-8 weeks. I can see both points but we can't have it both ways with excuses. Either we go for our selected targets or we wait for the sales.
Steve Evans would like them in for start of pre-season training. Think he'd like Martinez, Hunt & Lafferty back. Paul Douglas think its jobs for the boys with him. Think if you see somebody you really want, go in with your top offer or you'll lose them.
This club is one of the smallest in the championship. We are in effect a bottom feeder who players come to as their third choice. Players wait until the end of June for their best offer then make a decision. Pringle and Morgan are doing same. Just a waiting game now.
The difference this season is that we have had a few more weeks to prepare a list of targets and go in for some at the preliminary stage. There will be other targets who are not involved at the preliminary stage for one reason or another. The two statements aren't mutually exclusive.
