Should we have sacked evo to get the boost that nearly always occurs with a new manager-just to get us over the line?

After all we only needed a few results to make  us safe!

My take on this is that Steve has had a steep learning curve this year and has made many errors. He has also done many good things. If we sacked him now I think it would be a step backwards for either of 2 scenarios:

1. If we got relegated - he is the best man to get us back up. Been there, done that - got the T-shirt.
2. If we stay up - hopefully he will have learned from his mistakes and will make less next year.

The most fundamental challenge to him is to learn how to counter tactical substitutions - obvious against Derby and Wednesday.

Next, although I acknowledge that the side we started the season with would have been relegated so he had to juggle players and get better personnel in - I think he never stuck with a squad long enough to see it develop into a winning side. I think next year we would have a better starting point and with him at the helm I think we could aspire to being mid-table. No more than that will be achieved by anyone realistically.

I think the back to back promotions hindered us as we have players under contract who are not up to this level. Alsop factor in that started our recruitment a good few weeks after most other sides due to not knowing what division we'd be in (Wembley)

I think if we manage to survive this season, then next season may be a lot more comfortable. I think it is clear where we need to improve and I am confident that Steve Evans and his staff have learnt a lot this season and will learn from their mistakes.

I agree Heman, i have a massive but here though biggrinbiggrin, BUT, i have it on good authority that SE will be leaving in the summer, regardless of what division we're in, also that he put his resignation in before the Forest game but was turned down, you heard it here first folks.

My question was of course hypothetical , however,  it raises some real questions.  Of course, if, sacking a manger could gurantee survival this year, I would do it.  On the other hand, if what MM is true (offered  resignation and will be leaving) then I would have allowed him to go. To me,  It does not make any sense that the chairman would want him to stay under such cir***stances.

On the tenure of SE, I have nothing but praise and admiration. If we stay up, or, go down, them I would stick with evo.

I agree with Heman totally on his numerous posts about the development  of the team; SE, perhaps has reacted to quickly and made big changes when a more progressive and slower approach may have been better. It's also true that he had to shift some players.

All in all if he gets us over the line he will have been a resounding success. If he doesn't  and he wants to stay then I'm happy with that.

Have we become the new rumour Millers? Or, am I just speculating now. Whatever happens someone will no doubt use the immortal words, 'It's in the best interests of the Club that.... '

We'd like to thank andy for his support and loyalty as he goes off to pastures new. We won't be rushed in to appointing another loyal and passionate supporter - you can be assured of our due diligence in taking the singing and clapping of this club forward.

What we do know is we need a supporter to attend every game, buy merchandise, eat and drink from one of our many outlets and sponsor something once in a while.

Stop it ,Stop it, Stop it. The rumour mill is in full swing again with quotes like ,I have it on good authority that Evans tendered his resignation before the Forest game. He will definitely be going at the end of the season. You heard it here first etc. I am sick of posters who pretend they are in the know in order to enhance their own perceived self importance, and if even a tiny bit of their fantasy comes true, they will be on here saying I told you so. Grow up and get over your self.
