I am not in the sack him camp but yet again he has shown he is tactically awful and not capable of countering other managers tactical changes.
We played well today the first 45 mins was very even both teams cautious and both had chances. "nd half we came out and scored early and dominated the game until around 75 minutes. Stuart Gray made clever changes with a double substitution and had 3 sets of fresh legs on. Sammon was usless all game and Bowery for him was the obvious decion, but 75 minutes at the latest. I would have also brought Green on for Wilson he wasn't match fit and was clearly tired. That would have left one more change for later on. However we didn't they equalised we got lucky with a 2nd goal that was offside but Bowery did more in his 10 minutes than Sammon has done in the last 3 matches. We should not have left 1 up front it put us under massive pressure as they could defend with 3 a t the back and push up, having lots of time to play the ball forward. Poor Bowery running from one side to the other, if we were to take Derbyshire off then put the lad on to keep working them at the back. Poor decisions by Evans, put us under silly pressure for a team that has no confidence when we concede a goal.
I personally think schoolboy defending ultimately cost us, but along with that the inability to run down a game when winning. We have to learn that, i don't like it, it's cynical, but that's the division we're in, we have to adapt to it. SE is getting some stick, but i think he put Millsom on to control the ball, the tempo, he just couldn't get hold of it to influence owt.
I think wilson was an absolute liability and should have been taken off. I have already seen enough and he is awful. He failed to close space and was so powder puff he made pringle look like a gladiator.
He has no attributes at this level.
He cost us a the free kick that hunt conceded and they scored from and generally went missing all game.
How and why evo lift him on when it was so powerfully obvious is beyond me.
I will post a reply now because I have run out of things to kick. I agree that Green should have come on but Sam Hutchinsons enforced substitution was not tactical genius it was luck. Wednesday best us against the odds but at the end of the day they have the points and we don't. The way I felt when I left nys was disgusted...not with the performance but with the fact that a poor team who deserved nothing from the game picked our pockets. It happens. Time to prepare for th run in.
Going into time added on we had the game won and three precious points were ours and everything was "hunky dory".
To concede two goals in time added on is bad enough, but when we do it to our local rivals, and the team we would like to beat more than any other, then it hurts a lot worse than normal!
We'll get over it because we've done so, many, many times in the past!
