It's been said a few times this last few weeks but a win for the glorious and mighty millers would get us very close (perhaps just one more win) to the great prize of championship football for another season.
I'm sorry to pour cold water over all the optimism, but I don't think we stand a snowballs chance in hell of beating the Pigs. We don't seem to be able to keep a clean sheet ATM (Huddersfield aside), Wednesday are better away from home, they'll probably be as many Piggies in the home ends as Millers fans (remember Sickly), Broadfoot will more than likely play, Ward will probably still have Ebola, etc, etc....................
It could work out to be an incredibly sad day for us all!!!
They have serious problems scoring, have a poor midfield and an excellent defence. They have the best keeper in this division.
They are also crippled by injuries, the most significant for me is Semedo, who marked Pringle out of the game at swillsboro.
If I have to commit I would say that the strength of our squad gives us an edge. Let's just hop Sam Hutchinson does his usual and gets booked early on. If he does then he has to play a level quieter than he is capable. A very good individual on his day surrounded by below average midfielders. Always able to get a straight red.
2 - 1. Derbyshire, Smallwood
Lavery as sub scores a consolation with 10 against 11
Red card..Hutchinson....2 yellows.

Brad always the optimist. We have every chance. I'm not saying we will win but we have a great chance against a injury ravaged team who are stumbling just a little at the moment.
I hate to be all doom and gloom again but it's my "horses for courses" theory that makes me think that we'll get turned over again at our place, just like so many other times in the past!
We managed to reverse the trend when we went to Huddersfield and got three points there, but this feels different, it's our old enemy, the team who we would like to beat more than any other, this is Sheffield Wednesday!
Our recent record against 'em at our place is rubbish, stretching back to 1976, with just our most recent meeting, a 2-1 win in the cup being worth talking about!
It's good to get a prediction right Ian but whenever I'm predicting a defeat for the Millers, at the back of my mind I'm really thinking, "hope I'm wrong"!
I don't get much satisfaction when I get a Miller's defeat right, but I've always been one for statistics and I can't help following trends because it's uncanny how they can go on season after season, irrespective of league positions!
Who scores for Wednesday? Well, if you really want to know. The scorer is none other than Stevie May. He takes the ball in an offside position but the assistant referee does not see it. In his haste the assistant referee tries to keep up with the play but he drops his flag and then falls over. The match referee is distracted by his assistant and momentarily takes his eye off May running with the ball. The match referee then runs over to his assistant referee and books him for simulation.
A yellow card? It's never been known.
The assistant referee then gives the match referee a mouthful of abuse. The match referee shows his assistant another yellow card and then produces a red card.
The assistant referee is sent off!!!!
The referee then turns to see May stood on the ball in the back of the net. The Wednesday fans go wild. The match referee then runs over to the other assistant referee who nods his approval even though he was well over sixty metres from May when he received the ball. The referee then allows the goal to stand. Miller's fan start singing, 'You don't know what you're doing', over and over again. Then I hear a buzzing noise.........................................................................
It's the alarm clock stirring me from my slumbers.

yep. Very interesting isnt it.
My only theory is that the culture of the club, which is translated in to playing style and mentality keeps its pattern. Thus, when 2 teams meet the patterns are similar despite current form and one pattern tends to be stronger than another in head to head games. Of course fundamentally its all about patterns to do with resources much like our childhood and familial history, but we are talking about patterns between 2 teams in a given scenario.
Once in a while a different pattern emerges and we get an upset. Other patterns have time as a significant force and emerge at different intervals.
Rotherham v Wednesday has historically gone in wednesdays favour for obvious reasons, but there is also a pattern of upsetting the 'odds' based on the number of wins and other factors such as fitness and focus, etc.
Interestingly, the Millers have a better record then wednesday over the last 11 meetings following 8 straight wins for the Owls.
Is there a patten here?
I would suggest that since the 80s (no game in the 90s) the teams have met with similar 'resources,' but significantly, historically The Millers have recorded only 3 home wins v 8 triumphs at Hillsborough.
Is there a pattern here?
Perhaps the fear factor and a passionate and big away following at both grounds is crucial, but wednesday feeling less weight of expectation away from home.
It looks like a tight affair is the usual way it goes with the Millers due a comfortable win at some point in the future.
Can't see us winning this one. We just do not have any consistency in front of goal and it is a competent striker we have needed all season. Our strike rate is appalling.
Yet, we sign defenders by the bucket load.
Hope I am wrong, but I think the massive will win this one.
Perhaps I need some words of comfort!

The only thing we have to worry about today? Will we get a decent match referee?
