What kind of jobs do we do? I am sure we have a wide variety of individuals on the board. Me I now educate nurses after working as a nurse for 20 years. including Rotherham and the Hallamshire.
Very boring, I work for a large multi-national in IT (I try to avoid telling people what I do because you tend to see their eyes glaze over after about five seconds) but I enjoy it, gets me out and about seeing the world and it pays well.

Similar to S8 but self employed for 10yrs. My visions of grandeur were scuppered 4yrs ago when the wife had a near fatal brain haemorrhage, and having a young family my priorities changed. Like S8 I try not to spout about it, there's still a misconception that I.T pro's are geeky freaks in dark rooms with Cheshire cat grins pouring over a lovely piece of code - but that's not true anymore - we actually wear decent clothing, have short hair & are actively involved with sport & dare I say it girls !
I do have aspirations of going into FE teaching or training. During my wife's episode I was going through a degree which was self funded as I just managed to get in before the fees hike. Now that's not an option anymore, the prospect of a 50k debt just makes my eyes water (and at 37 would it actually get paid back?) - so going down the vocational teaching route seems the next best thing (I would have done a PGCE and ended up there anyway).
One of the upsides of workin fo mi sen, is every school hols we can venture up the M5 back to my homeland in Swinton, so get to matches fairly often (along with the odd ones that are within reach down here), if there's a particular tasty game on (like Weds) we do take weekend jaunts up there but try and avoid it as it feels like you spend the whole weekend driving!
And I fit all that around playing 5 a side 3 times a week, being Treasurer (voluntary) of Exeter Panthers AFC (my 8yr old plays for them), and doing Netball stuff with my 7yr old little lady.
Outside of football I've always loved Ice Hockey, it's a real shame it hasn't taken off over here as it's a brilliant sport. Years back we did watch the Steelers often which I miss. As an Xmas treat me mam is taken us all to the Arena in a couple of months which will be utterly awesome & a proper flash back! - Just got my lad in HNL on the PS3 and he absolutely loves it - with all the massive body checking / fighting and all in within a goal scoring game!
Former Foundry worker went to university as a mature student when I was 30. Later taught Employment Law and became an Employment Judge on Employment Tribunals now retired.
I am a self employed geek. 11 years in I.t. E-learning as a programmer.
Play 5 a side twice a week, am nearly 50 and dress how the hell I want.
Had a similar but less scary incident with my wife from 2006 to 2011 where she was wasting away. She had her bad kidney out and is now fully recovered. Our attitude to life has changed for the better since.
I don't drink alcohol in February but normally am a bit of a drinker of 2 or 3 sherbets.
I take my best mate's autistic son to the footy because my mate works Saturdays.
GP aged 57...retired early (a) because I could and (b) sick to death of the tick box medicine forced upon us......spent half my time having meetings and planning how we could grab the next pound offered by the government to carry out their political agenda.
Patients became punters and we looked at every consultation with a view to making another quid out of them.
I am 66 still working, as a sort of Technical Manager, with a firm in Hertfordshire. Living down here, I tend to go to more away games than those at NYS.
I work in gas engineering. Was an engineer for many a year now spend most of my time quoting for work and troubleshooting. Set up my own buisness over 20 years ago and never looked back.
I'm a surveying engineer (inspector?) for a London based, world wide inspection/compliance organisation. But strut my stuff mainly around the steel and engineering companies of Sheffield / Rotherham.
