Absolutely, I'm tired of hearing how "Derbyshire gets into great positions" and "Derbyshire needs time, he'll come good". We need goals now and although strikers are at a premium and are expensive, Tony and Steve are going to have to ask themselves if they are going to spend to get one, or be prudent and risk relegation. I have sympathy for Derbyshire and I'm sure he is quality, but it's obvious he lacks confidence. Unfortunately, I feel we cannot afford to take the time to boost him. A loan move would do him the world of good if it were to happen.

I don't feel Derbyshire should be the only one singled out, that would be unfair, Bowery hasn't particularly impressed either. Again, he has some good facets to his game, but we need a regular goal scorer and fast!

Surely after today SE cannot possibly persist with Derbyshire any longer, for about the 10th time this season we're saying we should have been 3 up before they scored.

Hold on a minute though fellas, and believe me i'm just as frustrated as everyone else, but Derbyshire is the only forward making those chances, his movement is top notch, to be honest i don't know the answer, sometimes there aint one, it either clicks or it doesn't.

What we ALL have to do is get behind em on saturday, it's no good putting our heads down, we need to fight as a team, the supporters, the players everyone, this is not the time to get the face on.

I take your point Millmoormagic and I do empathise, but we have to be realistic here. Derbyshire hasn't scored in a league game, he's had countless chances and as much as I like the movement and dynamic, he's not scoring goals. I'm not 'getting the face on', honestly, but we need someone who will score and quickly at that.

Pod if you have the money buy us one becauce we havnt got the 2-3 million it would take to get a player who could POSSIBLY get the goals at this level. As millmoormagic said we are in this together so relax enjoy it let us judge at the end of the season and if we go down, so be it. But it won't make any difference and in fact can only hurt our cause being negative. We arn't playing so bad and are creating chances, that's the positive side, I will be cheering Derbyshire on this Saturday and not shouting abuse or getting on his back ( not suggesting you do this ). At the start we all said 4th from bottom would do us for this first season, we are better than that but still we want more, more, more. We were so close to beating a good top 6 team on their own patch. I'm still smileing and enjoying playing quality teams. Utm.

Believe me Fliker, I'm very relaxed, I just want what's best for the club. If you read my initial post again, I state that Tony and Steve need to spend or risk relegation. I can't put it any clearer, I'm very sorry, but I haven't the money myself, I am not the chairman of a football club. I can only state it as I see it. To imply otherwise is foolish. I honestly feel that as we have worked so hard and invested so much to get here, it may be worth the risk to actually try and stay here. I know efforts are being made, but other clubs have spent and made it, we can do the same if the funds are there. If not, I can understand being prudent and building again, we wouldn't want another administration. Enjoy the rest of the season as I intend to do...

I know you didn't imply this Fliker, but just to clarify, I'd never get on a player's back at a game ever. My post is only stating fact in that goals aren't coming, I feel he needs to build his confidence. I'm not disputing Derbyshire's quality of movement or previous goal scoring ability at all.

We are only just into January. EVO is evolving the team. I think it's much better than the beginning of the season. The 3 new lads and Newton getting a look in.

I think the team actually looks like it's shaping up now for the first time.

I don't think I'm blindly optimistic. I see we have improved. Will it be enough?

The Doyle situation hadn't ended but what would you guys pay for him?

Agree with Pod.

Ian I would pay up to £1 million for Doyle. I believe we would get more than that later on and in the meantime, he would score the goals we need. If that happens I can see us averaging 10,000 to eos and I reckon that will reduce by 2000 very quickly if we don't sign anyone soon. Even 5 games at an extra 2000 spectators at say £20 average means a revenue stream of £200,000. Take that away from my £1 million and you get a value which I believe is a more realistic figure for Doyle. But hopefully the point I am making is not that far fetched. The revenue pool attached to us staying up is enormous and capable of financing a Doyle. Still wished we had secured Callum Wilson but he ho, onwards and hopefully upwards.

For me and I know some will think I'm banging on about this all the time, we have no choice but to try and secure an in form striker. It's not that much of a gamble, especially with the recent offloading we have done and will be doing.

I don't get this Doyle thing, massive gamble for us to spend that kind of money on someone who has had one decent season, this one...would rather take a punt on Bradshaw at Walsall if we were to gamble like this.

Glad its not my decision.

All of the strikers are a big risk for this kind of money (how times have changed).

Now if we had 10 million, we might get a guaranteed 15 goals per season championship striker.

Probably chuck Leon Clarke into the mix now that Wolves have strengthened. Evans like the challenging type

I'm not sure which way this will go. However, the clock is ticking...stick or twist?
