Bournmouth- a comparison

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30169243

I think I am right in saying that we were both in league 2, 4 years ago.

L2 runners up in 2009-10

L1 runners up in 2012-13

championship: finished 10 last season

currently top.

Record transfer fees.

2012-total spend 400k

2013-total spend 3.5 million

2014-total spend 3 million

offers on table of 1.5 million for brum winger.

looking to do more buisness.

Millers

2012-11. NIL

2011-12. NIL

2012-13. NIL

2013-14. 50K (TIDSER)

2014-15. 825K (BOWERY, 125K; jch 400k; smallwood 125k). I know the figure is put much higher for Bowery, but even if it is, it still does not compare with Bournmouth and Brentford spend.

Hers is my source: http://www.transferleague.co.uk/football-transfers/brentford-transfers.html

Brentford have spent 3.75 million this season.

So are we saying,

a) We can't compete because we don't have the financial clout or confuse

b) Get you're cash spent Mr Stewart disbelief

We are what we are but there is more than one way to be successful and I'm sure that Tony and Steve are giving it their best shot at finding that way!

It's hard to be positive when your team is near the bottom of any league but just try and remember how far we have come in the last 2 seasons and there's reasons to be cheerful (part 1, 2, 3) biggrin

Im firmly in the camp of being happy with what we have achieved thus far and 'understanding and accepting' that we have to build over several seasons under the current structure.

I think the current board and management are doing a great job and I have no critisicm of them whatsoever. They seem to be working within resources to the very best of their ability (no one can make every decision stick and be perfect).

I am reasonably certain that had SE had a few million to spend then that would very much be reflected on the pitch in more technically gifted and effective players.

All that being said, I have really enjoyed SEs style of play in both L1 and L2.

I accept the championship is a massive step and the club need a season or 3 to develop within our resources.

The understandable anxiety for many is whether we can hang on to the ropes to get through these first few seasons, and whether the club can sustain its progress whether we stay up, or get relegated. I understand the anxeity.

 Not quite true.

Matthew Benham is actually a  lifelong Brentford fan.

What about the FFP?

Shouldnt Brentford, Bournemouth and RUFC be on a level playing field re budgets irespective of how much money the owners have? Its not as though Brentford or bournemouth are getting gates of 20k+ Wheres the restrictions compared to RUFC? are we trying to survive on less than whats being known?

Yes you are absolutely right, got carried away there a bit but up to last season he had already put 43 Million pounds into Brentford so he really ought to be getting a bit more for that kind of investment. smile

Made a fortune from his betting exchange company especially from the Far East, don't think our Tone can compete with that to be fair!
