RIP Phil Hughes

Australian test batsman Phil Hughes has tragically died from his injuries after being hit on the head whilst batting.

Even though he was an Aussie, he was a fine batsman & 25 is no age to die.

Utter tragedy.  RIP & condolences to his family.

Like the 21yr old who died on the football pitch who worked in the reception at our 5 a side league leisure centre recently, they died doing what they love, the only solace in what is a very very cruel world sometimes cry

Very sad news indeed.

My thoughts are with his family and friends,

R.I.P Phil Hughes.

Very sad and very unlucky...Likely that he tore a very vulnerable artery, middle meningeal..This would cause immediate bleeding and increased pressure from the blood clot.

Life is a risk and these things happen..He could have fallen down in the Christmas sales and done the same...Life is a gamble..enjoy it!

RIP fella.

Very unlucky apparently only around 100 reported cases of this and never before in cricket. His parents were at the ground too, very sad.

If thats correct then even more unlucky than I said and it seems he may have torn a lower artery as it comes from the neck into the brain...never come across such an injury.

I feel sorry for the bowler as he must be devastated..I hope he can get on with his career after such a tragedy.

By all accounts vertebral artery was severed. I agree about the bowler, has to realise it was freak accident.
