Hoof ball hoof ball hoof ball

anyone else getting sick of it?

Ok we change to 451 because we are simply not good enough and getting over run...I can see that...but...whats the point of banging the ball up to Revs every opportunity for him to flick on to nobody?

If we must bang the ball skywards then we need a frontman who can hold the ball up.

I am an observer not a football expert but I observe that no other championship team plays this way so conclude that either Evans is a genius or this is not a viable tactic for this division.

Yesterday was the worst performance that I have seen for a long long time...the players limitations were exposed to the max.

Its not the players fault that they are limited but the tactics must be frustrating them and it shows.

Pringle looks p..issed off totally...Frecks looks like a lost sheep...the defence ponder slowwly and get run ragged....If the ball comes to them they hoof it to Revs who falls over or flicks it into a vacuum.

Dont get me wrong..Revs bless him works his socks off but..cannot hold the ball up and await team mates[a must for hoof ball play]...cannot control a football...has the speed of a Dacia and has now developed a comedy running on the spot with exaggerated high knees!

Lets at least tryand play on the ground and see where it takes us as its obvious where hoof ball is taking us!...It aint rocket science..Trust me!

Kempo a good summary tactics wrong but even in this league you still have to hoof it occasionally, so you need a mobile frontman who can hold it up, Revel works hard but not good enough at this level. Donaldson is no world beater but he led the line well and held the ball up when he needed to and is never static and on his heels.

Fully agree with your assessment Kempo and was about to put pretty much the same on another thread. Donaldson for all his limitations showed Revell how to be a target man today, always on his toes, got wrong side of Arnie on more than one occasion and was always a goal threat. As much as I love Revell, he was none of these yesterday. It was clear from minute one that he was getting nothing off the ref for the constant fouling so why continue to do the same thing for ninety odd minutes? Poor tactics, poor management or are we really that one dimensional that we can't change it even if we wanted to?

yes i am sick of it, we have players that can play yet we just boot to revell, best thing that can happen to rotherham now is revell having a injury that isnt serious but means he cant play until feb.

One of the big differences with our and there front men yesterday was that there front man recieved the ball at his feet, revel recieved it around his ears.

Agree with all said. Worry is that the RHS of Taylor and Richardson doesn't compare to Agard and Tavs. That combination with Prings on the left and Frecks and Smallwood worked well last year albeit at a lower level. Prings is getting frustrated with Taylor to the point where he displays it. Anyone thought we might score in the last 5 minutes yesterday? I doubt it but all of us and every player last season believed it. The fight has gone and the new guys in don't get the ethos or the plot and that has to be down to SE and his team. 50 points seems a ways off now. We need the spirit and the fight back and we need it now - plus a young strong defender that can plug these gaping holes and it's important the man has speed - we are so so slow on the backline other teams know exactly what to do. Worrying times but I ain't given up yet. SE needs to get quality in and the spirit resurrected - T S has said yes to a budget so this time around I hope it's spent with a little more wisdom. To be fair, SE is also learning at this level but there is only a short window for this - time to buck up and get in opposition's faces. We were bullied again yesterday. Painful day UTM

Revell is quite good at holding the ball up, the trouble is he cannot do it for a minute while our midfield get off their deck chairs and Zimmer frame it up the pitch.

kempo is spot on. We need plan a to be our plan b and start Bowery and jch. Leaving Green out had a massive impact on team confidence.

If we're going to play hoof ball we had might as well do it properly and go with:

Collin

Richardson.   Arnie.    Morgan.   Skarz

       Green.             Smallwood

JCH.      Derbyshire.   Revell.      Bowery

I am sick of it too but wishing injury on a player is harsh.

The best thing to happen would be for SE to see what we can see and changes it.

However you can bet who will be the first name on the team sheet. disbelief

at least we'd score some goals, which is more that can be said of 50% of our league games this season!

Can't believe how bad we've become and how out of his depth it seems Evans is!

Our squad is much worse than last season and getting worse with each wasted loan signing.

Fearful Blackpool will turn us over at home next week if things don't change drastically in the space of a week!

Saturday we didn't play with any thought or idea. The scary thing is we had two weeks to prepare for that game and at times we looked as though we'd only just met each other.

People have had a dig at Revell but I'm not sure what more he could have done with all the pointless floaty balls played up to him. We need to get back to our high energy game of last season and at times this season, obviously we can't run about like headless chickens but we are so flat and timid to watch at the minute it's boring.

I think a hell of a lot of people are like me. They admire Revell and all he represents about dedication and work rate.

it certainly isn't Revells problem that he is being picked and that he is a target man for balls to his chest at 60 mph.

the issue I have is with the style of play which seems to be dictated simply by Revells name on the team sheet. Revell needs to drop to the bench as a plan b. Plan a should be pace.

I appeal to the singers and chanters out there to help us demand a change with a chant of ' we want football' 'we want football'

Everyone will join in and force a change.

What a fantastic sound resounding around New York that would be.

I assure everyone that whatever the players were instructed they would change and free flowing football would result.

Will we win with football..I honestly don't know but that's what everyone wants.

Not a single supporter wants hoofball to Revs.....I just don't understand why we employ a tactic that is proven to fail at this level.

We want football..we want football...even I will join in!

A cacophony of supporter power.

Well done to Steve and Tony for taking my advice yet again....my advice to the club is always free.

Now listen up for some more......

Revs needs to go...great lad....has really helped us get so far but he is simply not good enough for this level...needs replacing...no room for sentiment.

Secondly...Pringle needs a rest.

That's it for now.....Think about it Steve...Revs out, Prings rested...you know it makes sense.
