Site Structure Poll - Separating Football and OT

This is kind of a tester but with a real aim.

I want to gauge feedback as it's been suggested by a few to separate OT from Football talk.  Will take a bit more work, and when you first come to www.millersbanter.co.uk you will be presented with say 2 main topics - Football Related & Non Football Related.  Click either and you will be presented with a thread list you see now.

Vote biggrin

Keep all topics together. The purists don't seem to realise that a board restricted to football/RUFC will not generate sufficient interest to retain its vitality over the longer term.

Have you voted?

I'm not sure that having a separate page will drive punters away.

I see your point however.

I just think it will look and feel more user friendly.

Surely it won't put people off to pop on to an O/T page?

I think we need some clarification about what is and what isn't O/T - for example is this just a Rotherham messageboard or a football discussion board? So would topics on Ched Evans, England U19's and Jessica Ennis be relegated to an O/T board? I certainly hope not.

Can see a case for the drivel to be on a separate page but if it is footy related it should be on the main board in my opinion.

I think footy related should stay in one place and not be OT, every other subject under the sun should be OT!

Trouble is Exeter, that if you look at any football related topic, it soon ends up off topic.

What happens then???

Keep the warning triangle then the total footy fans can ignore those messages.

But I bet they don't and still stick their oar in. Some want it both ways.

Jusyt my two bobs worth.

So you are not trying to guage feedback then, you are trying to do a Nigel Farage and implement it.

You cannot hold a poll then canvass on it mate.

Hence this poll is null and void.

In the real World illegal.

Great site though , love it.

 Devils advocate here.

You can't do that incase the post you think is not on topic might relate to someone else.

Just trying to say it might cause a lot of moaning, you know what we Millers are like.handshake.gif

Look I'm all for this site you have done a great job.

I am not putting obsticals in the way, I am just thinking ahead as to what will happen.

Keep it simple carry on as it is .

Main thing is any bad, and I mean bad abuse killfile them.

Think I explained it wrong.

If the results up top stay the same when you come to this site there'll be 2 Topics.  One for Footy related and a second below it for OT stuff.  When you click into either of them, you'll be presented with a long list of all the threads like you see now.

If a footy topic for example turns into an all out religious war I will ask whether the OT topics want deleting or, for the OT bits to be moved to the OT forum.

If that makes sense?

For example.

Look at the none football reated posts you have started without the yellow triangle.

I have used it as you asked, but you haven't. that is why I get confused.

I actually think that the current framework (OT/rufc topic separation) works better, I say this because it stops threads on the topic of football, moving off topic, and vice versa lol
