Yeah a bit of a surprise this one - bet he'd wished he'd stayed at Brentford now.

I'm surprised Whelan didn't give him longer.  Maybe a hangover from Martinez (who is a superb coach), but they haven't seemed to have got it right since he went.  It's getting to that time though isn't it where owners will be thinking "I need to change it now, to give them time to bed in and assess the squad before the Jan transfer window".

That's not a quote by the way - it's probably what I'd do!

Not surprised in the slightest. With the ability in the Wigan squad, they should be far higher in the league.

Even so, it's a ridiculous decision this early, managers, just like players, need time to adjust, indeed time to adjust the players he has inherited into his way of doing things, that doesn't happen overnight, quite surprised to be honest that Mr Whelan has gave him the chop, always thought he had a bit of nous.

Is it me, or has Dave Whelan got more impatient. He use to give all the signs of a man in control and with great judgement.

I was also  waiting for someone to suggest we worry SE would be a target and was ready to rubbish it.

However, it just occurred to me that given that SE wouldn't go for anyone below us, and no one above us would take the gamble that this leaves the likes of Wigan as a potential suitor. in fact they would represent the perfect fit?

its a bit of a shock but going on Todays way of life in Football maybe its Par for the Course to shuffle the pack if things arent going to plan?

Has Whelan got someone in mind or is he/Wigan going to do a Wolves?

Malky Mackay seems the early favourite to take the job.

OMG! I would be very unhappy with that appointment if I were a Wigan fan
