Sheffield to receive £9.6m funding from the FA for Youth Football

I know it's Sheffield but I'm passionate about this being Treasurer of Exeter Panthers AFC down here.

This is excellent news, more lads need those 3G pitches.

The FA is starting to wake up that life exists in abundance outside of the meat factory academies where the real youth coaching hero's are

Whilst i agree about the funding, nothing will improve our national team until our youngsters (16-19) are played in the premier league team's for a prolonged period. This is one of my main bugbears regarding the national team, or rather the premier league, too many foreigners playing limiting the chances for home grown players, they will never improve until they're playing with and against top players. They get sent on loan to lower league clubs where they stagnate and never show the original promise and potential.

Yeah I think its further afield than the PL though, look at us.  We've got a really talented and touted as a future England international in Swift at our disposal all season and he's been sat in the Reserves.

When I saw the impact he made at Derby I was truly excited, then he had a mare in that first 45mins against Wolves and not heard sight nor sound since.

When was the last time one of our youth came through and stayed there week in week out - I daren't think
